INVESTIGATING DOMESTIC AND DATING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
The conference seeks to draw together lawyers and judges, social and health workers, and scholars from a range of disciplines, and across different jurisdictions in order to offer a comprehensive and interdisciplinary analysis of whether, to what extent and in what ways domestic and a dating violence can be understood as gender-based violence.
We welcome contributions that focus on the legal, social, and psychological issues involving domestic and dating violence against women, including example of best practices, testimonies, case-laws and empirical research. We are particularly interested in analyses concerning domestic violence between female same-sex partners and dating violence against transwomen.
Attention should be given to the analysis of contextual, legal and procedural barriers to access to justice and support to women victims of domestic and dating violence as well to the role of police and public authorities in dealing with this topic.
We encourage papers that touch upon issues of domestic and dating violence and gender-based violence in general, such as:
- Analysis of case studies relating to gender-based violence;
- The role of police in addressing the rights of victims of domestic and dating violence;
- The role of public authorities and public administrations in addressing gender-based violence;
- The role of the women’s aid centres in supporting victims of domestic and/or dating violence,
- Gender-based violence and EU policies;
- Gender-based violence and case-law of the European Court of Justice;
- Psychological support for victims of domestic and/or dating violence;
- Violence against transgender persons and access to justice;
- Same-sex couples and domestic violence;
- Prostitution and dating violence
The list is not intended to be exhaustive. Contributors should feel free to examine any other relevant aspect.
Abstracts can be presented at the selection and delivered at the conference both in English and Italian (simultaneous translation will be provided). However, only final paper in English will be considered for the publication in the conference proceedings.
The whole selection process is supervised by the scientific committee of the conference and by anonymous peer-reviewers.
