(Hatter Society, Hungary.) I remember reading about a debate last year: an acquaintant was complaining that when a lesbian group had the chance to speak up at a forum about violence against women, its representatives chose not to talk about domestic violence within same-sex couples but about homophobia and its impacts on lesbian and bisexual women’s lives only.
We are glad that this research focuses on this seldom mentioned and quite invisible subject. During March and April, we began to make interviews, assembled two questionnaires for surveys (one for lesbian and one for transgender women), and talked to other NGOs, too (e.g. one that operates a helpline for battered women; they also get calls from women who are abused by their female partner). We are eager to talk to more and more people and explore this quite silenced topic.
